Spectacled Caiman
Caiman crocodilus

Distribution:- Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
Note:- C. c. fuscus has also been introduced into Cuba (Isle of Youth), and USA (Puerto Rico and Florida).


Comments:- usually grows to about 2.5 m (8 ft) rarely exceeds 3 m (10ft)

SUBSPECIES:-

C. c. apaporiensis (Rio Apaporis Caiman) - Colombia

C. c. crocodilus - Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

C. c. fuscus (Brown Caiman) - Colombia, Venezuela.

C. c. chiapasius - Columbia, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama.

Note that the status of these subspecies is uncertain.
